An unforgettable party wedding video at the albert hall gig venue, manchester city centre

I’d never filmed an Albert hall wedding video. I knew the venue, I’d shot a couple of events there before. But I’d never shot a wedding there. And I’d never shot a wedding quite like this ANYWHERE!

I sat across the table from Lauren and Stephen and felt my jaw dropping. We were sat in the wonderful La Collina in Manchester’s Northern quarter. I’d just ordered an incredible sandwich to go with my Cappuccino… it was difficult to eat with an unhinged jaw. I glanced across the table to my photographer friend Neil Redfern. He wasn’t eating. This may have been a wise choice as his jaw was similarly only inches from the floor. Every time Stephen and Lauren told us anything more about their day our jaws loosened and our excitement levels grew. After the meeting, Neil and stood in the doorway. A look of excited panic was not cast across his face. “This is going to be amazing… we best not **** it up”.

albert hall manchester, the ultimate party wedding venue?

Lauren & Stephen had planned the ultimate party wedding. The likes of which Albert hall in Manchester had never seen. Though it was certainly the perfect venue for it.

If you’re looking for an Urban Manchester wedding venue that’s truly unique and guaranteed to make your special day unforgettable, then than Albert Hall in Manchester needs to get a look in. This stunning venue is the perfect blend of vintage elegance and modern party vibes. It’s the ultimate choice for couples who want to party in style. This venue has been hosting events gigs and parties for the last ten years or so since its refurbishment. It has a unique history and layout that appeals to so many gig goers and event planners.

The venue itself is truly breath-taking. The grand ballroom is filled with natural light from huge upstairs windows. It’s a great space for capturing candid moments whilst still giving more artistic options for us wedding video creators. The high ceilings and ornate details give the space a sense of antique grandeur, while the sparse walls give it a cool almost shabby chic touch.

A bridal procession through manchester city centre

Our day started at the Midland hotel, with both Lauren and Stephen getting ready in separate sections of the hotel. There was an air of excited anticipation for what was to come as Sarah and team worked their wonders with the bridesmaids hair and Make-up. The Boys occupied a slightly smaller space and bobbed and weaved around each other performing multiple tasks. Most of the focus was on Stephen. The groomsmen insisted that they were going to help Stephen get dressed despite his protests that he was perfectly capable. Cue some awkward/funny moments watching four men trying to put one man in a suit jacket. As soon as they were suited and booted Stephen and the guys headed off to Albert hall to do some last minute finishing touches.
It’s just stone’s throw from the Midland hotel to Albert hall. So that meant that the whole bridal party were able to wander down on foot. Even Lauren in her gown took advantage of the close proximity to the venue and the uncharacteristically good Manchester weather. It was great fun watching peoples reactions. Lauren and her bridesmaids made their short walk through Manchester city centre to their Albert Hall wedding ceremony, to sounds of cheering and clapping from wellwishing strangers.

How does the albert work for wedding receptions?

The balcony overlooking the ballroom is a great spot for guests to catch their breath and take in the stunning space. After the I do’s the couple made sure to take advantage of this space during the reception. It was lovely to see their guests unwinding with a chat and a drink in what would be the calm before the storm. They had no idea what was about to happen.

Stephen and Lauren had planned a series of surprises for their guests, starting with the singing waiters. As everyone sat down to enjoy their meal, the waiters suddenly broke into song, delighting the crowd with their impromptu performance. It was the perfect way to kick off the celebrations and set the tone for the rest of the night.

a night of surprises at the albert hall

After the meal, for those who wanted to try their luck, there were casino tables set up in the corner of the room, complete with roulette wheels and blackjack tables. Guests huddled around the tables trying to outdo their friends and family, adding an extra element of excitement to the night.

Of course, no wedding reception would be complete without a band to keep the party going, and the Southwest band did not disappoint. Playing their absolute hearts out and filling the Albert Hall, Southwest band kept the dancefloor full for almost the entire duration of their sets. Guests were dancing the night away to a mix of classic hits and modern favourites. Everyone was raising the roof at Some point. You could tell the band were absolutely loving the opportunity to rock the Albert Hall stage. It’s a dream come true for many bands… especially as there were pyrotechnics involved.

But the surprises didn’t stop there. As the evening progressed, a couple of showgirls took to the stage, adding a touch of glamour and excitement to the party. Dressed in sparkling costumes and feathers, they brought a touch of Vegas to Manchester and had the guests cheering for more. In between the band and DJ sets we had Sax and bongo playing from Girls that mix which bought the house down. Everyone was crowding round as the ladies took to the dancefloor to bring dance classics to the throng. Speaking of dance classics, no party is complete without glowsticks! One of Lauren and Stephen’s friends had put together a playlist of trance and house classics. This saw the band and showgirls chucking Glowsticks from the stage to the eager wedding guests below. The whole evening was an insane amount of fun. One of the best parties I’ve ever seen!

As videographers, we always strive to capture the true spirit of the day, and there was so much going on that it was a real challenge to fit it all in. The main edit is honestly one of the best pieces of work I’ve ever done (we don’t display it publicly so you’ll have to ask to see it). The highlights only capture a portion of the story but my goodness WHAT A STORY! I hope that Lauren and Stephen will look back at their wedding video for years to come and relive the joy and excitement of their special day.

Congratulations to the happy couple, and here’s to many more celebrations at the amazing Albert Hall. If you’re looking for a venue that’s truly unique and guaranteed to get your party started then Albert Hall in Manchester is perfect… and don’t forget glowsticks.
